Another lesson from my 2 year old.

What my 2 year old teaches me about my journey with Christ!

Every morning the same scene happens at our house. Christi and Terah leave early for school and work leaving Jordan and daddy at home alone for 2 hours. Sounds dangerous, for those that know us, you are correct!

The morning begins with 2 packages of oatmeal and then Thomas the Train. Then we move into job of getting Jordan ready for the day. This process could last 15 minutes or 1 hour depending upon his attentiveness and how controlled my ADD is! LOL!

Finally it is time for daddy to take his shower. I lock all the doors of the house assuring Jordan doesn’t leave while I am in the shower. I jump in the shower and this is where the lesson begins!

Each morning, as I take a shower Jordan is in the bathroom with me. Whether he is playing cars or just hanging out beside the shower, he is with his daddy. I really do not get why he does this. I mean, there is a Thomas the Train movie playing in his room and tons of toys to be played with. His sister is at school, so he even has her toys to himself. But what does he decide to do? You got it right!

He wants to be in his daddy’s presence more than he wants to be with all his toys.

As I was wrapping up the showering process this morning, this concept hit me right between the eyes. How many times are we more concerned with all the stuff in our lives than being in the presence of the Father. Although the “things” in our life can and should be for enjoyment, how many times do they take precedence over our relationship with our Heavenly Father.

May our attitudes reflect the attitudes of our Jesus in Philippians 2. May we be more concerned with the presence of the Father!

Thank you Jordan for teaching daddy a sobering lesson! I love you son.
