We must attack back!!! JOIN THE FIGHT!

WAKE UP CHRIST-FOLLOWERS, there is a disease bombarding our culture that is killing innocence and will destroy homes later down the road. It is the spoon by spoon slow death approach of arsenic.

"A total of 429 students aged 13 and 14 from 17 urban and rural schools across were surveyed anonymously about if, how and how often they accessed sexually explicit media content on digital or satellite television, video and DVD and the Internet. Ninety per cent of males and 70 per cent of females reported accessing sexually explicit media content at least once. More than one-third of the boys reported viewing pornographic DVDs or videos “too many times to count”, compared to eight per cent of the girls surveyed.

A majority of the students, 74 per cent, reported viewing pornography on the Internet. Forty-one per cent saw it on video or DVD and 57 per cent reported seeing it on a specialty TV channel. Nine per cent of the tens reported they accessed pornography because someone over 18 had rented it; six per cent had rented it themselves and 20 per cent viewed it at a friend’s house."

We mustn't sit back and allow this to poison our culture. We must make a stand and fight against this bombardment of perversity. Even last night a man was arrested for holding a girl hostage for 18 years, kidnapping her when she was 11 years old. He even fathered 2 children with her. I bet, this perversion started with PORN.

1 Thessalonians 4:3 reminds us that it is "God's will for us to stay holy, so stay away from all sexual sin.

So are we doing everything we can to avoid it! There is one website/church that is attacking the PORN issue straight on. I would challenge anyone reading this that has a PORN addiction or a draw to porn, to visit XXXchurch.com

What, you're a gas station!!!

Have you ever ran out of gas? I remember the first time I ran out of gas. It was in Greeley and I was at a red light about to turn into a gas station and then, “sputter, sputter.” I was completely out of gas.

Yesterday my beautiful wife ran out of gas at Sonic in Hudson Oaks. She was able to catch a ride with Alex Ainsworth (thank you Alex) just in time to meet another girl at Railhead for lunch. That left Jordan and I with the mission of taking gas to the empty minivan.

All we needed was someone to loan us a plastic gas container and then we would bring it back. We traveled to the first gas station and asked if we could borrow a gas container to fill up the car and they said, “No!” We traveled to the second gas station and the asked again. This time the lady behind the counter looked at what appeared to the be the manager of the store, then he said “No!” We made our final stop at a local gas station and asked again, only to be rejected the final time. We ended up having to buy a 2 gallon gas tank from the last “convenience” store and 2 gallons of gas for $20...WHAT A DEAL!

As I left the convenience store I was put out for several reasons. Here I was carrying a little boy asking 3 different gas stations to borrow a container where I could put gas in my wife’s car and it happened to be 120 degrees outside. I not only felt desperate, but I knew I had to look desperate too. I begin to get upset and angry at the gas stations, but then God hit me between the eyes.

Is that what we do sometimes as Christ-followers? We have exactly what people need in Jesus. They come to church or open up to us at our jobs and we just totally ignore what they are crying out for. All they need is a “gas container” to fill up because they ran out of gas. They have some need or hurt and they come seeking comfort/help/guidance, only to be rejected! And you know the saddest part about it. Once they are rejected by the “church” or “followers of Christ” they go and seek out hope/guidance/comfort through other avenues and it ends up costing them even greater.

Ladies and Gentlemen...

May we begin to live out the life that was modeled to us through Jesus Christ. May we begin to see the ones around us in and what their needs are. May we begin to offer hope ones that are seeking it. May our church/student ministry be a hospital for those that are hurting.

Waking up in the middle of the night...

Last night I woke up in the middle of the night.  One of those wake ups that startle you and you are wide awake, eyes wide open!  It is impossible to go back to sleep.  I used to turn the radio on and place it in my ear and listen to some ridiiculous talk show that woke me up even more.

But last night I did something different...

I asked God, "Okay God you have me, so what do you want me to hear?"  As I begin to listen to the loudness of the quiet night, God begin to share this..."

"John, I want your complete life, not compartmentalized life, but it in its entirety."  

So what does this look like?  It really didn't make sense to me until this morning.  While sitting beside one of my brothers in the ministry...God led me to Matthew 20:28.  Basically summed up that Jesus didn't come to be served but to serve others and give his life up...  You catch that...his life!  

His entire life!  

God forgive me for giving parts of my life to you, but not in entirety!  God I love you...

As I am about to speak to the students, pour yourself out through me!  May I feel and understand to give my LIFE up as you did Jesus!
